Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday submits comprehensive details of electoral bonds, including their unique numbers, to the Election Commission. This move follows the Supreme Court's directive on March 18, instructing the SBI to disclose all relevant information regarding the electoral bonds in its possession.
Now information which can be accessed are the name of the bond purchaser, the denomination and specific number of the bond, the political party that encashed the bond, and the last four digits of the bank account number associated with the political parties receiving the funds.
Earlier, the SBI had submitted details regarding the purchasers, the amounts, and the funds received by the political parties separately. In an affidavit to the Supreme Court, the SBI clarified that it would not be making public the complete bank account numbers and KYC details of the political parties, citing cyber security concerns. Similarly, the KYC details of purchasers will also remain confidential for security reasons.
The bank's chairman informed the Supreme Court that apart from the KYC details and complete account numbers, all other relevant information regarding the electoral bonds has been disclosed. The unique alphanumeric numbers associated with each bond will play a crucial role in identifying the bond and tracking the party to which it was allocated.
